July 23, 2020. Some hikes we linger longer, some we move more quickly. We were limited on time today but the kids felt like they could move quickly. My, oh my, they did!! We hiked 2 miles in 50 minutes. Given the steep hills and little legs, it was remarkable!! Elijah and Penelope even found time to “honor” a dead moth with a burial in the leaves, observe bugs, enlist dada to cut a tripping root, and smell some flowers. Ideally, we would have loved to linger longer. Yet, we smiled at the fact that 2 months ago, they needed a ride on the back to complete this hike. Whereas today, they cruised through it at turbo speed on their own…while mama and dada desperately tried to keep up.
