Father’s Day

June 21, 2020. It’s fitting that on a beautiful, sunny Father’s Day, we would happen upon a lot of fathers hiking with their babies. It reminded us of the days we used to carry our babies in baby slings or a “BABYBJORN” strapped snug on our chests. These days, Elijah and Penelope still take breaks on our backs from time to time, but soon, they will outgrow even that. Still, they are our babies. As I type that…I can almost hear them both screaming, “AHHH! MAMA!! We are NOT babies anymore!!” To which I almost always respond, “I know! You’re big, strong, beautiful, capable kids. And even when you’re my age, you’ll still be my baby.”

It has been the privilege of a lifetime for Nick and me to be blessed with such remarkable kids. Not for anything they do or don’t do…not for anything they achieve…quite simply, for who they are and the incredible ways God’s love and light radiates in and through them. On this Father’s Day, I am grateful for the children who make Nick a dad and for the wonderful father he is!

Happy Father’s Day to all father figures, including our own!!
