July 3, 2020. We thought we were pretty clever today heading out “early” for our hike, as to beat the heat. Unfortunately, we did not hit the trail early enough. As evidenced by the pictures…the heat found us!! We were HOT! Still, we persevered. Albeit with a lot of perspiration.
Taking a break from the sun, we found our way to the woods. While the dense trees offered some covering from the heat, they also housed a lot of mosquitos and flies. As we struggled to keep our positive attitudes amidst the constant buzzing in our ears, I posed a question. If the buzzing was actually the mosquito talking to you, what do you think it would be saying?
For a moment, our annoyance and fear of itchy bites subsided. We pondered the funny conversation we’d have with mosquitos. We laughed as we imagined. We found a sense of humor and happiness despite the uncomfortable circumstance around us. Happiness is an inside job.
